Is cinnte gur buntáistiúil ar fad cara sa chúirt – ach tá cara sa pharlaimint níos fearr arís. Nuair a thug iar-dhalta Choláiste Feirste cuireadh do dhaltaí na scoile cuairt a thabhairt ar Dháil Éireann, bhí ríméad orainn mar scoil agus ghlac muid go fonnmhar leis an chuireadh.
Tugadh turas ar Theach Laigheann don scoil agus chaith muid tréimhse ag éisteacht le díospóireachtaí sa Dáil agus sa Seanad.
Thug an Aire Dlí agus Cirt, Charlie Flanagan faoi deara go raibh muid ag éisteacht sa Seanad agus chuir sé fáilte oifigiúil romhainn – rud a chiallaíonn go bhfuil tagairt dúinn i dtaifead oifigiúil an lae sin! D’fhan muid thar oíche i mBaile Átha Cliath agus bhí am den scoth ag na daltaí! Beimid ag súil go mór le turas eile chuig an príomhchathair a eagrú ar an bhliain seo chugainn!
Pupils from Gaelcholáiste Dhoire made the trip up to the Capital to visit Leinster House in June. The school community were welcomed by Senator Niall Ó Donnghaile, who took them on a tour of the historic building. Niall himself attended our sister school, Coláiste Feirste and was perfectly placed to show our pupils the parliamentary process at work. “I am delighted to host Gaelcholáiste Dhoire and for pupils to learn the history of this important building and how the political system in the south works.”
Children also got a shout out in the Senate from Justice Minister, Charlie Flanagan, another member of the house who has followed the GCD journey and recognised our distinctive red halfzips along the corridors.
